What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle, non-invasive healing technique that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words:
"Rei", meaning universal, and
"Ki", meaning life energy.
Reiki is based on the idea that a universal life force flows through all living beings. When this energy becomes blocked or imbalanced—due to stress, illness, or emotional trauma—it can affect our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Reiki works by restoring balance to this energy.
How Does Reiki Work?
A Reiki practitioner channels energy through their hands, placing them lightly on or just above the body in a series of positions. The energy flows where it is most needed, supporting the body's natural healing processes.
Sessions are deeply relaxing and can be experienced as warmth, tingling, or a gentle release of tension. Many clients enter a meditative or dream-like state during treatment.
Benefits of Reiki
People turn to Reiki for a wide variety of reasons. Some of the common benefits include:
Stress Reduction & Relaxation
Improved Sleep & Mood
Emotional Release & Balance
Pain Relief & Physical Healing Support
Spiritual Connection & Clarity
Reiki is safe and can be used alongside other medical or therapeutic treatments. It complements, but does not replace, professional medical care.
What to Expect in a Session
During a Reiki session, you’ll lie fully clothed on a treatment table or sit in a comfortable chair. The environment is calm, with soft lighting and soothing music. The practitioner may gently place their hands on or just above your body, depending on your comfort level.
Each session typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes.
Afterward, many clients report feeling lighter, calmer, and more centered—both immediately and in the days that follow.
Is Reiki Right For You?
Reiki is for anyone seeking greater peace, balance, and wellness—whether you're managing stress, healing from illness, or simply wish to feel more connected to your body and inner self.
You don’t need to believe in Reiki for it to work. Just bring an open mind and a willingness to receive.
